Questions
Why does the portal reject a PDF that is under the limit?
Some portals count 1 KB as 1,000 bytes, so a 300 KB limit means 300,000 bytes, not 307,200. Aim a few percent under the limit. Password-protected PDFs, PDF portfolios and very old PDF versions are also rejected by many portals.
How do I make a PDF small enough?
Scanned pages are pictures, so lowering their resolution shrinks the file the most. Black and white scans at 150 DPI stay readable and are several times smaller than colour.
Are my PDFs uploaded?
No. PDF Desk opens and writes the file with JavaScript inside your browser tab. Nothing is sent to a server, so it is safe for contracts, IDs and bank statements.
